Cordyline australis
Commonly known as the Torbay palm Cordylines are actually not palms at all but Australian cabbage plants. Nevertheless they are forever popular as coastal tolerant trees producing an impressive display of fragrant white flowers during the summer. Many casualties were recorded during the winter of 2010 but the circumstances were exceptional. Generally these are pretty tough cookies with many older specimens up to 100 years old along our coastlines.
